Louis Vuitton Yayoi Kusama Infinity Dots Lockit

When fashion and art collaborate, beautiful things happen. When Louis Vuittons Marc Jacobs joined forces with Yayoi Kusama a stunning collection was born. Armcandy is delighted to have a piece of this historic moment available here:

Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama Limited Edition Lockit

This Lockit features the iconic Infinity Dots, characteristic of Kusama’s work, but where did the inspiration come from?

Kusama was born in Japan in March 1929. When she was a little girl she had a hallucination of a field flowers that began talking to her. The flower heads were like dots that went on as far as the eye could see. She felt as if she was, in her words, self-obliterating into this field of endless dots. This experience and her feeling of melting into the universe has influenced most of her work. She explains “our earth is only one polka dot among a million stars in the cosmos. Polka dots are a way to infinity. When we obliterate nature and our bodies with polka dots, we become part of the unity of our environment.”

She also creates environments of dots so that we too can experience the feeling of self-obliteration. Two of her Infinity Mirror Rooms will be available at London’s Tate Modern Spring 2021 to Spring 2022. Immerse yourself in her unique vision of a boundless universe.
